The Canadian Recreational Vehicle Association (CRVA) is commemorating its 50th anniversary with a cross-country tour that combines celebration of the RV lifestyle with support for children battling cancer. Beginning June 16th, CRVA President Shane Devenish will traverse Canada in a specially wrapped 2025 Citation Reward Travel Trailer by General Coach, with all fundraising efforts directed toward the Care Camps Foundation, an organization dedicated to providing healing camp experiences for children with cancer.
The RV lifestyle has experienced substantial growth across Canada, with current statistics showing over 2.1 million households now own recreational vehicles. This popular form of travel enables Canadians to explore the country's scenic destinations while reducing stress and supporting local communities through tourism spending. Beyond recreational benefits, the RV industry represents a significant economic driver for Canada, generating more than $3.4 billion annually and supporting over 14,000 jobs across manufacturing, sales, service, and tourism sectors.
The anniversary tour will include scheduled stops at campgrounds and RV dealerships nationwide, including prominent locations such as Transcona Trailer Sales in Winnipeg and Western Country RV in Airdrie. Major event participation will feature the Vancouver Craft Beer and Music Festival and the Boots and Hearts Festival, with the tour concluding at the Canadian National Exhibition in Toronto. At each destination, attendees will have the opportunity to view the anniversary trailer, share personal RVing experiences, and purchase tickets for a chance to win the trailer through a fundraising raffle, with all proceeds directly benefiting the Care Camps Foundation's mission.
Shane Devenish articulated the association's commitment to community support through this initiative, emphasizing how the RV lifestyle has become ingrained in Canadian culture. The tour aims to inspire both experienced RV enthusiasts and newcomers to embrace the freedom of road travel while creating meaningful memories. Regular updates documenting the journey will be shared through CRVA's communication channels, showcasing Canada's diverse landmarks and the unique experiences accessible through RV travel. This summer-long celebration represents a powerful convergence of anniversary festivities, community engagement, and support for a cause that profoundly impacts countless families across the nation.
