Blue Lagoon Resources Inc. has commissioned its Moving Bed Biofilm Reactor system at the Dome Mountain Water Treatment Plant, designed to meet all regulatory discharge standards. The system, developed with SRK Consulting's principal environmental consultant Soren Jensen, can treat up to 400 liters per minute, significantly exceeding the current mine water output of 20-40 L/min. This substantial capacity ensures environmental compliance and stewardship as mining operations expand, addressing potential water treatment needs well beyond current requirements.
Underground mining operations are scheduled to commence on September 24, 2025, beginning with development work and progressing to production targets of 100 tonnes per day within four weeks and 150 tonnes per day within twelve weeks. The company has emphasized that all mine waste will remain underground, aligning with environmental commitments and reducing surface impact. A Mutual Aid Agreement with New Gold Inc. has been established to enhance operational readiness and safety protocols, providing access to emergency support resources if required during mining activities.
The underground mining program will be led by Mike McCartin, an experienced underground mining geologist, with technical support from Roughstock Mining Services to establish comprehensive mining protocols and standard operating procedures. President and CEO Rana Vig described this operational phase as transformational for Blue Lagoon Resources, highlighting the fully permitted project's potential for generating near-term cash flow while maintaining minimized operational risk. The Dome Mountain project holds significant importance as one of only nine mining projects permitted in British Columbia since 2015, underscoring both its rarity and the company's focused approach to responsible project advancement with safety and environmental care as primary considerations throughout the operational timeline.
